Request to Speak Training. Lobbyists Contact Your Representatives. Do You?

We know. Commenting on legislation can sound a little dull. But did you know that Arizona Republicans have introduced over forty bills making it harder to vote, the most in the nation? And another bill that would force prosecutors to treat abortion as murder? And others that are anti-mask, in favor of increasing criminal penalties against protestors, and that further loosen gun laws? These bills are way out of step with most moderate Arizonans. But if the only people legislators hear from are those on the extremes, then we will keep getting extreme legislation. Kevin Brown, with the Arizona group Civic Engagement Beyond Voting, will introduce us to Arizona’s Request to Speak (RTS) system and help participants register for an account. RTS is an online tool that allows citizens to weigh in on bills and give feedback to State legislators. It is an easy way to stay informed on the laws that matter most to you and ensure that our representatives stay accountable to us, not paid lobbyists or those on the political fringe. Please visit our take action page to see a video by Representative Daniel Hernandez on the importance of RTS.

Due to Covid-19, we are still hosting our meetings via Zoom. Please register for the meeting here. You will receive an email with login information shortly before the meeting. If you do not, please contact us at infodcqc@gmail.com.
